Lucca's 1-year Appointment

Lucca did great at his 1-year appointment, except for the fact that he spiked a fever yesterday and has come down with Coxsackie virus (a strain of hand foot and mouth disease), which sounds worse than it is - basically some sores in the back of his throat and fever.  He was 28 3/4" tall (19th%), 19lbs, 5oz (8th%) and head was 48 cm (89th%), so he's still a little peanut with a big head.  He should be walking soon and saying a couple words (probably mama and dada with specificity)!

Lucca's 9 month checkup

Lucca had his 9 month checkup and did great.  He is growing great, especially his head!!  He is in the 89th% for head circumference.  He is crawling now and babbling, ma-ma, dad-da, ba-ba and na-na.  He LOVES to follow Rocco around everywhere and laughs at everything he does.  He can have cheese and yogurt now!!  Hope Rocco will share his yogurt with Lucca. :)  Oh and Dr. Rahim said he saw something on the top and bottom of his mouth, hope that those teeth come through soon!!

Lucca's 6 month check-up

Lucca had his 6 month checkup today with Dr. Rahim.  He is growing well and can start to have rice cereal once a day until he gets used to it then twice a day and then we can introduce food.  We can't wait to see how he does!!  I am sure that Rocco will want to help feed him too! He had a lot of shots today and has to go back in a month for a few more.  Don't forget to look at his stats!

Lucca's 2 month & Rocco's 18 month checkup

We had both Lucca's 2 month and Rocco's 18 month checkup today.  Lucca is growing so well considering he was a preemie!!  He did good until he got his antibiotic shot again in both legs.  One more day of shots and we are on the oral antibiotic.  He didn't get his 2 month shots since he had the other one today and has for the last few days.  Just too many shots to put the poor little monkey through.

Rocco did great too until Dr. Davies started to exam him. He was tired because he took an early morning nap and just didn't want to be poked at!  He got a free book at the end, our pediatricians office is teaming up with the Reach Out To Read program in Boston.  At every visit for any child over 6 months old they leave with a free book.  Rocco loved it, there are doggies on the front.  Foof, as he calls them...HAHA!!  No shots for Rocco today, none until he is 4...YAY. (WAY as Rocco says it!)

Lucca's Urologist Appt

We had Lucca's Urologist appointment today to discuss his circumcision. They weighed and measured him first and he was 10lbs 1.6oz (with clothes on) and 20.5 inches long. He is getting SO big!!! We have his 2 month checkup next week so we will get his accurate stats then. He has to go back mid December for another checkup before his surgery is scheduled and then the surgery will happen at the end of January. It's an outpatient procedure so he will go home that day but has to have general anesthesia which is scary.

This is what Rocco spent his time doing while we met with Dr. Stuart....HAHA!! He kept hiding his bunny snack in his pants, so silly!!

Rocco's 15 Month Appt

Rocco had his 15 month checkup today and is right on track with his development. He is still a peanut but growing so Dr. Rahim isn't concerned at all. He weighs a whopping 21.4 lbs and is 30.5 inches long. Not sure what his head circumference measured at but it's in the 95%. He got three shots (DPT, MMR & Chicken Pox) today, two in one arm and one in the other. He did NOT like that at all. It's the hardest I have seem him cry in all of the 15 months of his life. He had a hard time breathing while he was crying, it was really sad for both me and Gino to see. The good news is NO MORE shots until he is 5 years old! He is okay now after he had some cheddar bunnies and got down to play with his gears, animal puzzle and cars. He just lined up his 4 cars and 6 animal pieces on the couch and then pretended to count them. HA!! We have been doing that with him so it's funny that he remembered and is copying. Not related to the Dr. appt but I heard him say "the bubbles" and then he got the bubbles and handed them to Poppy to play with. I couldn't believe it!!!

Rocco's 1 Year Appointment

We had Rocco's 1 year appointment today with Dr. Rahim. He had to get one vaccination and his hemoglobin levels checked. He didn't like that at all. They pricked his finger and he cried, then when he was done the nurse put a band aid on him and we thought we were done. She came back in and had to do it again because the levels weren't where they wanted them to be. She took off the band aid and had to squeeze some more blood out so he cried again! His levels were okay this time, she said sometimes the alcohol pads skew the reading. We are all clear to give him whole milk now, YAY!!! NO forward facing in the car though, he doesn't meet the weight requirement...little peanut!! I also posted his stats so check them out.
